This map gathers roughly 347 live traffic cameras from the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) into one fast, searchable view, pulled from the state's official CTRoads system at ctroads.org. Connecticut driving is defined by its shoreline: I-95 runs the full length of the state along Long Island Sound, carrying the New York City commute through Fairfield County and stitching together Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, New Haven, New London and the Rhode Island line. It is routinely among the most congested highways in the country, and the smartest way to know what it looks like is to see it before you sit in it.

Coverage follows the corridors that matter most. I-95 hugs the coast end to end, crossing the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge (the extradosed "Q Bridge") over New Haven Harbor at the mouth of the Quinnipiac River and the Gold Star Memorial Bridge over the Thames at New London and Groton. I-84 cuts west-to-east through Danbury, Waterbury, and Hartford toward Massachusetts, passing the notorious I-84/Route 8 "Mixmaster" interchange. I-91 runs north from New Haven through Hartford toward Springfield, while Route 8 climbs the Naugatuck Valley, I-395 carries eastern Connecticut from Norwich to the Massachusetts line, and I-291 and I-384 ring the capital. The historic, tree-lined Merritt Parkway (Route 15) parallels I-95 through Fairfield County for cars only.

Each camera shows a recent still image, refreshed every minute or few minutes, so you can judge backups, snow, fog, and wet pavement at a glance.
