Michigan MDOT Cameras — Live Road Cameras & Map

Michigan drives on its interstates, and the Michigan Department of Transportation watches them through Mi Drive, the public-facing window into the Southeast Michigan Transportation Operations Center (SEMTOC) and MDOT's statewide camera network. Our Michigan MDOT camera map gathers roughly 805 of those live cameras into one fast, searchable view so you can see I-75, I-94, I-96, I-696 and the rest of the network before you commit to a drive. Coverage is heaviest in Metro Detroit, where SEMTOC monitors hundreds of freeway miles, and extends out to Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo and the long northern run of I-75 toward the Mackinac Bridge.

The backbone is four interstates. I-75 enters from the Ohio line, threads downtown Detroit as the Chrysler and Fisher freeways, and runs north through Flint and Saginaw all the way to the Mackinac Bridge and Sault Ste. Marie. I-94, the Edsel Ford Freeway through Detroit, carries the southern tier from the Indiana line past Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor to Detroit and Port Huron. I-96 links Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Muskegon across the Lower Peninsula, and I-69 cuts from the Indiana border through Lansing and Flint toward Port Huron. Add the Detroit-area named freeways, the Lodge (M-10), the Southfield (M-39), the Reuther (I-696) and the Jeffries (I-96), and you have a network where one stalled truck can stack traffic for miles.

One thing to know up front: these MDOT cameras do not carry native road-weather sensors. To give you conditions anyway, each camera on our map is paired with the nearest National Weather Service airport station, so the temperature, wind and sky you see is the nearest airport's reading shown alongside each camera rather than an on-pavement measurement. That is genuinely useful for spotting a developing storm or a wind event, but treat it as air weather near the road, not a surface-temperature reading. On a 33-degree day, bridges and ramps can be icing over even when the airport gauge looks safe, so use the camera picture itself as your final check.
