About this map

This map brings together the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) road cameras into one fast, searchable view, drawn from the state's official Traveler Information Map along with the Gateway Guide system in St. Louis and KC Scout in Kansas City. With around 879 cameras spanning the interstates, urban beltways, and river crossings that tie the Show-Me State together, you can see what I-70, I-44, and the metro freeways actually look like before you pull out of the driveway.

What sets these cameras apart is that they are live video, not still snapshots. Each one streams real-time footage that plays right in your browser, so you watch traffic move, snow fall, and fog roll in as it happens rather than guessing from a frozen image that may be minutes old. That live view is a real advantage on Missouri's busy corridors, where backups, crashes, and fast-moving storms can change a drive in moments. Coverage centers on the two big metros and the spine that links them: in St. Louis, I-70, I-44, I-55, and I-64 (locally called Highway 40), plus the I-270 and I-255 beltways, I-170, and the Poplar Street Bridge over the Mississippi; in Kansas City, I-70, I-35, I-29, the I-435 and I-470 loops, I-635, and US-71. Between them, I-70 runs cross-state through Columbia, Kingdom City, and the Jefferson City area, while I-44 heads southwest through Springfield toward Joplin and I-49 links Kansas City to Joplin.

St. Louis

Dense Gateway Guide coverage through the metro core — I-70, I-44, I-55, and I-64 (Highway 40), the I-270 and I-255 beltways, I-170, and the Poplar Street Bridge over the Mississippi. Ideal for timing rush hour, spotting downtown backups, and watching for ice on the river bridges.

Kansas City

KC Scout cameras across the metro where I-70, I-35, and I-29 meet the I-435 and I-470 loops, plus I-635 and US-71 (Bruce R. Watkins Drive). Useful for judging the downtown loop, the Grandview Triangle area, and the bi-state crossings before you commit to a route.

Springfield

Cameras around the Queen City of the Ozarks on I-44 as it skirts the north and west of town, plus US-65 on the east side and the James River Freeway (US-60) across the south. Handy for Ozarks-bound travelers and the Branson and Lake of the Ozarks getaway routes.

I-70 Corridor

The cross-state spine between the two big metros — I-70 through Columbia, Kingdom City, and the Jefferson City area (the capital is reached via US-54 south from Kingdom City). A heavily traveled freight and travel route, in the middle of a multi-year third-lane widening, where weather and construction both slow things down.

Tips for using Missouri road cameras

Tap any camera to watch live video — these aren't still images, so you can see traffic actually moving, judge how fast a backup is clearing, and watch snow or fog develop in real time before you head out.
Around St. Louis, scan the Gateway Guide cameras on I-64 (Highway 40), I-44, and the I-270 belt to spot downtown and interchange backups before you commit, and check the Poplar Street Bridge for ice when temperatures drop near freezing.
In Kansas City, use the KC Scout cameras on the I-435 and I-470 loops and the I-70/I-35/I-29 core to time rush hour and route around incidents on the downtown loop.
On the I-70 corridor between Columbia and Kingdom City, expect active construction from the ongoing third-lane widening — use the cameras to see lane shifts and stacked traffic before you reach them.
