Omaha
Omaha is Nebraska's largest metro and its busiest camera cluster, anchored by the I-80/I-680/I-480 three-way interchange that carries well over 200,000 vehicles a day, the single busiest junction in the metro. Cameras cover I-80 across the city past 72nd Street and the Kennedy Freeway (I-480), I-680's northern bypass through west Omaha toward Iowa, and the river crossings into Council Bluffs where I-80 and I-480 meet I-29. Lincoln
The state capital sits where I-80 swings south of downtown and meets US-77 and US-34, and its cameras cover the interstate through town, the airport interchange, and the approaches that funnel traffic toward Memorial Stadium on Husker game days. You'll see I-80 at the north and south junctions with US-77, plus arterials and interchanges that back up during rush hour and major events. For travelers, Lincoln is the pivot between the Omaha metro and the long open run west toward Grand Island, so these views help you judge whether to push on or pause. In winter, watch for blowing snow on the exposed stretches just west and northwest of the city.
Grand Island & Kearney
This central-Platte-Valley region covers two of the most weather-critical stretches of I-80, where the interstate runs dead straight across open farmland and ground blizzards routinely shut the road. Cameras line I-80 through and between Grand Island and Kearney, including the Kearney westbound message-board and bridge cameras, plus US-30 (the Lincoln Highway) running parallel and US-281 and US-34 crossing north-south. This is classic gate-closure country: when blizzards hit, the interstate is frequently closed around the Grand Island to Kearney corridor (roughly mile markers 270 to 312). It's also the gateway to the Platte River sandhill-crane migration and to US-183 toward the central Sandhills.
North Platte
North Platte sits at the fork of the North and South Platte rivers and the junction of I-80 with US-83 and US-30, the last major service hub before the long, lonely western run to the Wyoming line. Cameras cover I-80 around Exit 177 and the bridges east of town, plus US-83 heading north toward the Sandhills and Valentine. This is a key fuel-and-rest decision point on a cross-state drive, and a frequent blizzard chokepoint: closures often run from North Platte east toward Grand Island and Gretna during winter storms. It's also the jumping-off point for Lake McConaughy, Nebraska's largest reservoir, via US-26 to the northwest.
Panhandle
The western Panhandle is high, dry and wind-swept, with cameras along US-26 and US-385 (the Heartland Expressway) and N-71 reaching toward Scottsbluff, Gering and Bridgeport. This is the country travelers search for: Scotts Bluff National Monument west of Gering, Chimney Rock near Bayard, and the North Platte River valley that carried the Oregon, California and Mormon trails. US-385 also runs north toward Alliance and Chadron, while US-26 traces the river west toward the Wyoming line and Torrington. Cameras are sparser out here because towns and stations are far apart, but they're invaluable for judging blowing snow and high crosswinds on exposed two-lane and divided highway.
Norfolk & Columbus
Northeast Nebraska's twin hubs of Norfolk and Columbus sit on US-81 and US-275, the main diagonals linking the Omaha and Lincoln areas to the northern tier and the South Dakota line. Cameras here cover US-81 through Columbus and north toward Norfolk and Yankton, US-275 running northwest out of the Omaha metro, and US-30 (the Lincoln Highway) where it crosses US-81 at Columbus. This region is off the interstate, so these feeds matter most for travelers cutting across to Sioux City, Norfolk or the Lewis and Clark Lake area, and for judging snow and fog on the open two-lane stretches that link the farm towns of the northeast.
